Left camp pretty early ran into more Park Rangers/trail crews that stopped us to check our permits, second time in 24 hours, just before a major stream crossing in the middle of a mosquito dense area.
Emily slipped in the stream and got her phone wet. Not good. Went mosquito speed all morning and did 9.5 miles before ten in the morning. We are picking up speed. We took a break the first place with enough breeze to keep most of the mosquitoes away.
Then we had a big climb and a huge decent to the ferry to Vermillion Valley Resort (VVR) it started raining about halfway down the decent and didn't stop until we arrived at the ferry landing zone. The ferry was just a tiny fishing boat that could hold 4 people at once and took a good hour to cross the lake.

We split the last canvas tent bunk room with a JMTer Jake from Australia and Special Ops who I climbed Whitney with. We threw a load of laundry in together too. Showers were 7 dollars so we passed those up, with so many stream crossings I just don't feel that dirty. Dinner at the "resort" (more like hiker/fisherman ramshackle outpost really) was 16 dollars for pasta and meat balls (and they had run out of pasta) but I still had 4 servings my vegetable soup left so Emily and I split that instead. There was olive oil in the hiker box so we made it extra tasty with a few extra calories. A few people with the meatballs were jealous of our hearty soup, yay soup! The bed was very squishy.
