Day 52

Mile 793
10479 feet
June 23

Mike the trail angel gave us a ride back to the Onion Valley trailhead, he is wonderful. Saw some sort of grouse, and it's four little chicks cross the trail on the way up to Kearsarge Pass. Saw a coyote! A big grey silvery coyote running down the trail while I cooked dinner. Watched it until it disappeared up the ridge. Also a lone buck. The mammals we are seeing keep getting bigger! Maybe we'll see a bear next! Camped on a spit of land that juts out between the upper and lower Rae lakes. Did two passes today, Kearsarge and Glen. Glen was a bit sketchy, but do able. Lots of post holing and very wet feet. Tomorrow we will do Pinchot pass.

Just below Glen Pass

Other side of Glen Pass. I love getting to the top of a pass. You get to see a whole new valley and what your next day is going to look like. It's just so amazing every time, plus if you are at the top of a pass that usually means no up hill for a while!
