Day 44

14.7 miles, camped at 728.1

Beautiful day walking up and around Meadows. Huge Pines at 8-10k feet. Gorgeous trees, nice smelly sage and flowers.

Wonderful day, except Emily's blisters are hurting and that's no fun. I'm tired, I didn't sleep well last night and my feet are still adjusting. I hope tonight is warmer and less windy. No fire tonight because it was kinda gusty when we first got here and it didn't seem wise.

Met Kiter a retired wireless components guy, his son just graduated high school. He is also from San Diego. Mark from yesterday's camp did another 3 miles to try to get to lone pine tomorrow because he wants to buy more warm clothes and a better sleeping bag. We got to camp at about 5 and ate dinner and smacked a few mosquitoes. Emily has been carrying cards so we drew a cribbage board on the bottom of my sleeping pad and then we played cribbage in Emily's tent to wait for dark. It's a little strange that the sun goes down so late now, I'm not used to it. It felt weird to be inside a tent after being a tarp dweller since I started the trail. I didn't like not being able to see what was happening outside.
