Day 43

12 Miles, Camped at 713.4

Left Kennedy Meadows, Emily got new shoes from a girl that got her new ones in the mail. There was lots of hot and dusty uphill today.

We are sleeping at 8000 feet tonight, a bit freaked out about bears but saw our first glimpse of the high Sierra today across a beautiful bear frolicking type meadow of sage. Gorgeous hiking weather all day, maybe a bit warm. The cicadas have been going nuts all over the place the last few days making a huge racket and flying into you a few times a day.

We camped 500 feet off the trail near some nice tall pine trees. We had a nice little fire and aired out our smelly clothes.

Mark from New Hampshire found our camp just as it was getting dark and cold. His sleeping bag isn't warm enough so he was very grateful for the fire. We also met
Neopalatin, grasshopper, fly boy and 3 others on the hike out from Kennedy.
