Day 39

Walker Pass to Camp 1 (652-659)
7.4 Miles
Emily's mom dropped us off at walker pass at 2 pm. We were going to do 5 miles but there was so much day light left we decided to do two more miles. I fell down on my knee hard on some loose rock and it was really scary, my immediate  thought was "am I really going to fall and end my thru hike on its first official day?" it was a terrible feeling. It might bruise but I think I'll be okay.

 It was very hot and dry and uphill and I drank a bit more water then I was expecting to. Eleven more to go tomorrow before we hit water again.

 Ended up meeting dj night cakes, killer and maverick (an unofficial Arizona mascot who teaches 3rd grade in Utah) and few other people who didn't stay at that campsite.  It was a windy night with an awesome sunset, sunrise would be great from here too, but I think we'll sleep through it. It's great to have a buddy on the trail with me now!
