Just under marathon! Today time and distance got very skewed. The landscape did not change all day. Just big trees and little green bushes that I think are blueberries but they aren't ripe yet. At the very end of the day we ran into a log cabin type shelter stocked with sliced watermelon on ice, gatorade and peanut m&m's. There was also a really cool water pump outside. Then 0.2 later there was a sign on a dirt road to follow the plastic flowers 0.1 off trail to a car camping spot where they would cook you dinner. Veggie Gourmet, Jolly, and Cookies who had thru hiked in 2014 had all kinds of snacks and a whole menu put together. I had a grilled cheese with tomatoes and pesto. The trail is a magical place. We walked another 4 miles into a lava rock field and found a good spot behind a log near the trail with lots of tree cover.
